Calming, natural hues have topped the charts of almost every major paint brand’s trending colors for 2017. According to Interior Design, this trend toward “Nature’s Palette” reflects growing themes of “sustainability, simplistic living, spirituality, and self-improvement.”
For example, Sherman Williams defined their 2017 Color Collection as “Natural Wonder,” featuring 20 colors chosen for their ability to bring “room-to-room harmony” and inspired by the natural world.
Benjamin Moore called it the “Year of the Shadow,” their collection featuring bold, natural colors that bring spaces to life.
Pantone’s color of the year 2017 is “Greenery,” a representation of community and unity with others and with nature. According to Pantone, “The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world.”
Of course, design and color are not just about trends. It’s about building an environment that inspires us, evokes a response, and creates a mood.
Nature calls us to refresh, renew, and rejuvenate. We find in it tranquility, timeless beauty, and a sense of sanctuary. Nature is something we’ll never tire of.
